The Host of the 40th TEDDY AWARD
We are delighted that Britta Steffenhagen is hosting the TEDDY AWARD for the second time!
Britta Steffenhagen is a Berliner, a true Kreuzberg local with a strong sense of community — and it’s exactly this “Berlin spirit” that shapes her humor. Actress, entertainer, host, stand-up comedian, cabaret artist, writer, improvisation star, radio journalist — and, on top of all that, a graduate political scientist.
She has lived in Canada, London and Dublin and works fluently in all facets of the English language as well as German. Britta has appeared in numerous film and television productions, including Where’s Wanda, The Love Healers, and Ku’damm 77.
For more than ten years, she performed on stage at Heimathafen Neukölln with the acclaimed cult show “Die Rixdorfer Perlen.” As a host, she has led audiences through the European Film Awards, the TEDDY AWARD, and the Achtung Berlin Film Festival. For her live radio show on radioeins, she received the Grimme Award.
She is also one of Germany’s most recognizable voice actors, lending her voice to actresses such as Natasha Lyonne, Kerry Condon and Rachel Weisz.
Britta says: “Self-irony helps us see how absurd life is. Humor makes it easier to endure existence.”
We’re thrilled to welcome her back as she once again brings wit, warmth and unmistakable Berlin charm to the TEDDY AWARD stage. Welcome back!
