Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros

placeholder

This film contrasts the purity of the first love of poverty and corruption that characterize life in the slums of Manila. The 12-year-old Maxi lives here. His family is poor. For his petty criminal relatives, he cleans up the house, cooks, washes, mends the tattered jeans and, if necessary, procures the necessary alibi to save siblings or the father from being arrested. It is accepted that Maxi is gay. Loved and protected by relatives, he is something like the resting pole of the family. He is responsible for family life. It goes well until Maxi becomes friends with Victor. The universally respected, principled policeman gives Maxi hope for a better, non-criminal life.
Auraeus Solito : “Almost seven years ago, on the island of Palawan in the south of the Philippines, I rediscovered my own roots as part of the indigenous population: swimming in the lakes, hiking under the full moon, capturing the life of our endangered mankind and after a holy one long past Dancing the Ritual of Truth… After returning to modern Manila, where I grew up, I started making this film. I now understood the area in which I grew up much better. The attention that this film attracts will inspire the digital film scene in the Philippines. The digital revolution leveled the difference between third and first world. Even if we are poor, we still have imagination. "
